The Synchronika is a machine for home use with a professional interior. Its technical concept is based on the system developed 70 years ago by the Italian company Faema, whose E61 model from 1961 caused a sensation at the time. With the E61, it was the first time that the mechanics of a manual lever machine with a pre-infusion piston system were successfully transferred to a pump-driven device. ECM has further developed the technology of this legendary brewing group in recent years and has recently patented the novel brewing bell made of stainless steel with an extended pre-brew cylinder.
Completely tailored to taste.
A powerful, quiet rotary pump provides the necessary pressure. By activating the tilt valve, the required amount of water is first transported only to the brewing chamber, moistening the tamped espresso grounds in the portafilter. This swelling of the espresso grounds is referred to as pre-infusion, during which the flavor compounds in the coffee are dissolved, before the actual extraction, where hot water is pressed through the portafilter under high pressure (9-bar). What comes out? An espresso with perfect crema, tastefully balanced. A digital display conveniently counts the time: ideally, it should take 5-8 seconds until the coffee starts flowing.
Ready for operation in ten minutes. Two boilers.
The Synchronika from ECM is a dual boiler machine. The water for coffee preparation is heated in one boiler (approx. 0.75 l) to 93 to 94 °C, while in the second boiler (approx. 2 l), the water for steam and hot water extraction is kept at a constant temperature of just over 120 °C after warming up. (The PID display on the machine shows the numbers for monitoring.) This way, there is always enough hot water available for pre-warming cups or for tea, and it can be dispensed simultaneously. If there is no need for it, the hot water boiler can also be temporarily turned off.
The two large, easily readable manometers serve to monitor the boiler and brewing pressure. All parts, including the housing, are made of stainless steel, except for the fresh water tank with a volume of approximately 2.8 liters made of white plastic. The knobs on the toggle valves are made of black Bakelite, just like the gripping surfaces on the portafilters.
